PH.D. Fellowships 2009
CATEGORY: PHD - Complete fellowship – CENTRAL AMERICA

(Grants will be awarded in the order of application and until all funds are disbursed)
AVAILABLE TO NEW full time students performING THE THREE-year period Ph.D training OFFERED BY THE UNIVERSIDAD DE COSTA RICA (UCR)
This stipend is valid only for full time Ph.D. students, that have no other involvements in projects or activities that generate salaries for them.
Eligible applicants: from all Central America, except Costa Rica.
WHAT DOES NeTropica OFFER?
1) A $550 monthly stipend for a maximum of 3 years period.
This stipend is expected to cover:
- Hosting
- Daily Expenses of the student
2) One round trip ticket from the country of origin of the candidate to Costa Rica.
WHAT ARE THE STUDENT REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS FELLOWSHIP?
1.- Applicants for full time fellowships should be from a Central American country except from Costa Rica.
2.- Applicants must have started the enrolment procedure to the PhD program in Costa Rica.
3. - Applicants must have a fair knowledge of English.
4.- Priority will be given to applicants bellow 35 years old. In extraordinary cases applicants above 35 years old will be considered, but not exceeding 40 years old.
5.- Once the fellowship is granted accepted students should sign a contract with NeTropica.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE FELLOWSHIP?

- For an application to be considered the candidate must send in one package by regular mail the following documents:
- Printed copy of the online application form
- Copy of the submitted application form to the Ph.D program in Costa Rica.
- One letter by Ph.D supervisor of the candidate, stating the subject of the candidate’s research and the expected studying period.
- Two General Recommendation Letters.
- The application form should be written in English.

WHERE AND WHEN TO SEND THE APPLICATION FOR THE FELLOWSHIP?
- In total there are two positions available for 2009.
- Applications will be valued as they come in.
- There is no fixed date for applying and evaluation.
- The application period runs all year round with maximum deadline October 2009.
- Candidates are urged to apply as positions will be filled until all funds are disbursed.
- The candidates will be informed by letter within one month of the application.
- The application package should be sent by email & by letter with all the attachments to: NeTropica
