The NeTropica Network seeks to promote joint research in biomedical sciences, particularly in the field of tropical diseases, through its academic activities. This network, sought to involve PROINNOVA in its organization in order to support its collaborators in the field of Intellectual Property (IP).

The role of PROINNOVA workshop within this initiative is to serve as a direct consulting source for guidance in topics and procedures related to IP. Activities planned and coordinated by NeTropica and PROINNOVA consist in a course (I3) that includes topics such as: Innovation, Commercial Scientific and Technological intelligence, Intellectual property protection forms and Technology licensing.

Eligible applicants: Nationals and permanent residents from Central America.

POST-DOC :

The Network for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases in Central America (NeTropica), and in coordination with the KIRT program, from Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, are inviting all Central American Researchers, interested in doing a two year Postdoctoral Research at Karolinska Institution, in the general fields of Infectious Biology, to apply with research projects considered as a priority for the Central American region.

NeTropica has identified active scientists in the field of Infectious Biology located at Karolinska in Sweden that are interested in receiving under their supervision Central American scientists to work in a two years length collaborative project.

NeTropica as the funding program will be covering in the form of a monthly stipend the living expenses and the round trip to Sweden, while the hosting institution will be providing the working facilities to the successful Postdoctoral researchers.

PostDoc Candidates can be from: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama

Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden.

STUDENTS:

CATEGORY: master degree

DEADLINE: open (max. October 2008)

This stipend is open for full time Master Degree students from Central America interested in studying in a Program in the fields of Tropical Diseases and Biology of Infections.

The Master Degree Program should take place within Central America and must be registered with the NeTropica program. The maximum length of study is two and a half years.

Eligible applicants: Nationals and permanent residents from Central America.
However permanent residents of the country that the MSc is taking place cannot apply.

DEADLINE: open (max. October 2008)

This stipend is valid only for full time Ph.D. students, enrolled in the Post graduate program of the University of Costa Rica (UCR) - "PhD in Sciences" (Posgrado de Ciencias) .

Eligible applicants: Nationals and permanent residents from Central America, except from Costa Ricans.
